One of Fujifilm's latest digital camera models -- the FinePix Z700EXR -- looks like one of the most interesting new cameras in 2010.
The Z700EXR contains some great features, including a 3.5-inch touch-screen LCD, a 5X optical zoom lens, and 12 megapixels of resolution. The Z700EXR includes Fujifilm's innovative EXR image sensor, which works well in tough shooting conditions. The image sensor technology helped the Z700EXR win an award at PMA 2010.
In addition, the Z700EXR received a 2010 Innovative Digital Product Award at PMA. Out of the 13 cameras Fujifilm announced early in 2010, the Z700EXR looks like the most interesting model.
Look for the Z700EXR in black, red, or silver. The camera body measures only 0.67 inches in thickness, and the horizontal lens cover includes an interesting wave design. Fujifilm uses LEDs to provide additional detail on the camera body. The Z700EXR is currently available with an MSRP of $279.95 (Compare Prices), and it should make the short list of those seeking good mix of shooting power and style in a point and shoot camera.

The SP 800UZ fixed lens camera from Olympus contains plenty of power for a sub-$350 camera, including a 30X optical zoom lens.
Olympus has included several high-end features with the SP 800UZ beyond its large zoom lens (which carries a 28mm-840mm equivalent). This model can shoot 720p HD video, and it includes an HDMI connector.
The SP 800UZ should be available soon at an MSRP of $349.99. (Compare Prices) With 14 megapixels of resolution, a wide-screen 3.0-inch LCD, and a 16:9 shooting ratio option, the SP 800UZ looks like it should offer a good value for someone needing a large zoom in a fixed lens camera.

Sony TX5 Survives Tough Shooting Conditions |

Sony's recently announced Cyber-shot DSC-TX5 digital camera offers a nice mix of style and good photography features. The DSC-TX5 should be available this month for about $350, although Sony is accepting pre-orders at its Web site.
The TX5 is useable in extreme conditions, thanks to its dust-proof camera body. It can operate in up to 10 feet of water depth, survive a fall up to 5 feet, and operate in temperatures as cold as 14 degrees Fahrenheit. Unlike some other "tough" cameras, the TX5 is very thin, too, measuring only about 0.72 inches in thickness.
In addition, the TX5 offers a 3.0-inch touch screen LCD, 10.2 megapixels of resolution, 720p HD video recording, and a 4X optical zoom lens. It also uses a CMOS image sensor, which is appearing in more and more digital cameras, rather than a CCD image sensor.
You'll find the TX5 in five colors: Black, green, pink, red, and silver. It's an interesting looking camera, with a sliding panel on the front of the camera that also serves as the power switch. Its look is similar to last year's Cyber-shot DSC-T90, which I had a chance to review.

Kodak has always aimed its EasyShare cameras at beginning photographers, and the latest models the company announced at CES 2010 -- including the EasyShare M530 -- follow that line of thinking.
The two-toned EasyShare M530 gives beginning photographers an easy-to-use, point and shoot camera that carries basic photographic capabilities. The M530 has 12 megapixels of resolution, a 3X optical zoom lens, and a 2.7-inch LCD. It can shoot VGA-quality video at 30 frames per second.
The M530 includes an easy-to-use social-networking feature that allows you to "tag" pictures for automatic uploading to Facebook, Flickr, and other Web sites.
The M530 is available for sale now for a price of about $129.95. (Compare Prices) The camera has four body colors: Blue, carbon, green, and red (shown here), and each color of camera includes a black stripe that occupies about one-third of the front of the camera.
