One of the trends I've seen in new point and shoot camera models in 2010 is larger zoom lenses in small, thin camera bodies. The Panasonic Lumix ZS5 fits that trend well, offering a 12X optical zoom lens. It also has some wide angle capabilities, featuring a 35 mm equivalent of 25mm-300mm.

The ZS5 includes 12.1 megapixels of resolution, a 2.7-inch LCD, and a fast startup time of about 1.1 seconds. Panasonic also built the ZS5 with advanced battery control, allowing for more than 300 shots per battery charge.
